Sri Lanka’s Road to Bankruptcy was Political, Not Economics.

The Imminent reason for the protest is inflation, but the core is Sinhalese Buddhist nationalism. Sri Lanka was once known as the most propitious land of reconciliation between majority and minority groups in South Asia. But the recent history tells us a different story. The Island’s civil war which started in 1983 and ended in 2009, left nearly 100,000 dead and millions displaced from their homes. The war began with an attack on the army base in Jaffna, the capital of the Northern Province by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) also known as Tamil Tigers. The war was incited by ethnic conflicts between the Sinhalese majority and the Tamil minority, which includes Christians, Hindus, and Muslims. It was the longest-running conflict and was largely ignored by the international community. Sri Lanka is an island nation off the southern coast of India. Its population is mainly composed of Sinhalese while 18% of Tamils are as well. Tamils are situated on the North and East sides w...

Thwaites Glacier: Why Scientists are so worried about it?

Image
In the next century, rising sea levels will be the ultimate challenge we face. How soon is this going to happen and how much seas rise? It all depends on what’s going to happen here. Antarctica holds the largest mass of ice on earth. Only the western portion alone contains enough ice to raise the sea level up to 3 meters . And that portion is in big trouble. Mostly because of the Thwaites glacier. It faces towers as high as a six-story high building and extends up to 120km along the coast of West Antarctica. It’s almost the same as the size of Florida. It’s an enormous glacier that reaches the heart of West Antarctica. The major problem is that because the Thwaites glacier reaches the heart of West Antarctica and from the last two decades, it is clear now that, this glacier is melting and falling apart. These are portraits of a vast, rugged, treacherous continent , Which has challenged man since first he could sail beyond the limits of his horizon . Antarctica is the ice sheet....

"IS MS MARVEL: Worth Watching or Not" ?

Image
Since Ms. Marvel is definitely aimed at younger audiences and is much more family-oriented, so I thought I’d take a look at it and see how it’s carried. This may not be a surprise to any of you, but I wasn't eagerly waiting for Ms. Marvel at Disney Plus. I t's there , it's watchable and while it doesn’t do anything particularly noteworthy, it doesn’t do anything offensively. This time o ur superhero is a high schooler named Kamala khan and she's a massive captain marvel fan, which makes her unique in the school because she is the only person who is a captain marvel fan. S he has posters of her in her room, and a costume dedicated to her, and she has an entire YouTube channel only for captain marvel . Kamala’ s internal conflicts in home life and the fantasies occupy her every waking thought . M iss marvel is another piece in the expanding MCU but thankfully it also shines on its own questions of identity and belonging are a repeat supe...
